Cycle Travels

A blog to share whereabouts on bicycle trips, and tips and tricks on bikepacking.

The perfect pace.

Riding at 15 miles an hour is a great way to travel the world. You can cover great distances while fully experiencing every place you come across.

I discovered bike travelling in 2020, during Covid, when I biked from my hometown Ghent in Belgium, to the Mont Ventoux in France. I loved the slowness of it, strolling rather than pushing, taking countless breaks, meeting people and fellow bikepackers, riding along with them, eat how much and whatever I want, setup camp and sleep under the starts. Since then, this has been my favourite way of travelling and I plan to do it every year as long as possible.

My aim is to ride 100.000 kilometers. A kind of meaningless goal which just allows me to have the journey really.

On this site I share updates and whereabouts while travelling, as well as some general information on how to travel by bike. It includes tips on the bike itself, gear, checklist, navigation, routes, etc.

Next trip: riding the length of Japan in September 2024.
